Beginning the Drama Journey
In the first class we began with some ice-breakers that can be utilized to engage students and also allow the teacher to get to know the students. Another activity that I thought was really interesting was the human Venn Diagram strategy where students place themselves in a man made Venn Diagram that shows their knowledge about drama. I think this is a great idea because it can be utilized in all subjects and for different topics. This is both a visual and kinesthetic way to see differences and similarities. I also touched on Dwyer's Theory of Learning in my video explanation so I will also include that below:
The focus theory was Dwyer (1996) Learner’s Theory, in which we discussed how people remember/learn:
- 20% of what they hear
- 30% of what they see
- 50% of what they read/write/draw
- 70% of what they discuss
- 80% of what they do or experience
- 90% of what they teach others
